People come to counselling because they want to change or to understand why they feel the way that they do. Recent research has shown when people instigate change within themselves by the support and help of a therapeutic counsellor it can promote a positive outcome to both the person seeking help and that of the counsellor too.

As a therapeutic counsellor my role is to utilises not just my skills and theoretical knowledge, but also facilitate and work towards a therapeutic relationship that provides an environment that promotes autonomy, respect, trustworthiness, together with an ethical and reflective approach to the work done together.
It is really important when working together to be aware of boundaries that contain this working relationship, this is in order to keep you safe and to ensure that I as your counsellor work in a transparent way.
In brief during our counselling sessions it is important for you to experience the following.

All disclosures are handled with care, integrity and confidentiality within my working practice, the only time this might be breached is if I believe that you as my client or someone else is at serious risk of harm. If this does arise then I will do my utmost to speak with you before hand.
All notes are written after each session and kept minimal, with either first names only or a number code for my records. This is to promote anonymity for all my clients and the notes are stored safely and anonymously. This is to comply to the best of my abilities to the data protection act 1998. You also have the right to access your notes with two weeks prior notice.
At the counselling pod I aim to provide an environment that offers a safe and confidential place to talk freely. I work to offer flexible hours to suit all my current and potential clients. My main area of work is Twyford and will do my utmost in offering a time that is convenient for you. If I can not help with any of your enquiries then I will try to refer or recommend a counsellor or counselling service that may be more suitable to your personal needs.
"It really boils down to this: that all life is interrelated. We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
